About Lingrove

Lingrove teaches through conversations that last about three minutes, such as ordering coffee, asking for directions or making small talk with a neighbour. You speak your lines aloud, the app checks your pronunciation, and new words go into a review deck that brings them back over the following weeks.

It suits people who already know the basics and freeze when they have to talk. Complete beginners will want a more structured course first.

What it does

  • Three-minute conversations

Everyday scenes with a voice partner that waits for you and repeats on request.

  • Pronunciation feedback

Scores each line you speak and points to the syllable that went wrong.

  • Spaced review

Words you met in conversation return as flashcards just before you would forget them.

  • Level tracking

Shows listening, speaking and reading progress against CEFR levels A1 to B2.

New in version 2.3

  • Italian and Portuguese courses
  • Slower playback for any line
  • The review deck now works offline

What it gets right

  • Speaking practice from the first lesson
  • Short sessions fit into a commute
  • Clear progress against CEFR levels

Where it falls short

  • Conversations need a connection
  • Voice recordings are processed on a server
  • Nine languages, fewer than its rivals
